The Australian File - Film Synopsis

Private Investigator Penn Gwinn is hired by a mysterious client to retrieve the legendary, brilliantly colored fire opal called the Aqualene, or the eye of God, which is part of Australian Aborigine heritage. The opal once belonged to the Binin, the Australian Aborigine, and the legend stems from their dream time, when God visited them and found them so enjoyable he gave them one of his eyes for them to see their way for the rest of eternity.

When the first white settlers of Australia saw the owl sized opal, they stole it, and the chase was on for ownership of the great prize, and its legendary magic power came to bear. Greedy international organizations fought over the ownership, including the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency.

The mysterious organization called the Quad Lateral Council, or the Q4C, is an international organization with the reputation of being the largest dealer in illegal drugs, illegal gems, illegal oil exports, murder, mayhem and corruption the world has ever known. The ownership of the legendary Eye of God is necessary for their plans with the oil reserves of the Arnhem Gulf area of the Aborigine Territories. With the opal comes power over the Aborigine, and with the power comes the ability to invade the Aboriginal lands and foment resurrection, which would eventually lead to the overthrow of the Australia government.

Penn Gwinn leans the opal has been recently put up for sale by the latest owner, a rich gem collector in Sydney. However, when he finds the collector's house, he learns of the collector's murder, and much to his reluctance, is forced by his client to find the opal, regardless of the cost..

Through an ingenious method, he generates contact with the seller. He makes an appointment to meet in order to arrange the purchase in Sydney, only to find that seller also dead, and he is left with only one clue, which returns him to San Francisco and then to Tijuana, to begin his hunt. In an unusual car chase through the Baja California peninsula of Mexico, he meets several agents claiming to be his allies. The trail returns him to Sydney where he is abducted by the enemy and rescued by a female agent from his former agency. He becomes involved with the agent and she earns his trust, helping him on the trail of exciting action through the Australian outback to the mysterious yachts that show every two weeks in the Arhmen Gulf.

In the hunt for the Eye of God, many The trail for the opal involves numerous people who may or may not be who they say they are, including members of the Sydney Police and the Australian secret police, who are all involved with their own agendas.

This tale of greed, murder and international intrigue keeps the reader bound with its spy thriller action and plot twists until the resolution. In this chase for the Aqualene, nothing is as it seems, and the search for the opal leaves a trail of bodies as Penn is forced to deal with phony detectives and seductive agents.
